The consultation comes first

Part of Tetri’s Smile

On other days Dr. Baruch Tetri, DDS, a periodontist (a dentist trained in gum and implant care), and our team see adults at the same address, with the same front desk and phone number; on Fridays, adults are seen until 3 pm.

For adult care, see Everyday care and Complex care in the menu.

A first visit, in five steps

  1. The adult bringing your child checks in at the front desk; a parent or legal guardian’s written consent is on file before treatment.
  2. You and your child go into the treatment room together.
  3. The pediatric dentist names each step, shows the instrument, then begins.
  4. The dentist looks at the teeth and gums at a pace your child can follow.
  5. You leave with plain notes on home care and the next visit.

Read before the visit

  • First visit. When to come, what to bring and how the visit is paced.
  • Preventing decay. Brushing by age, snacks and drinks, and what fluoride varnish (a protective coating painted on the teeth) and sealants (thin coatings on the chewing grooves of back teeth) are.
  • Fillings and crowns, explained. What a filling, a crown for a baby tooth or a space maintainer (a small device that holds a gap open) is, in plain words.
  • Tooth injuries. What to do for a knocked-out or broken tooth, pain or swelling, and when to call 911.
  • Parents’ guide. A printable checklist: what to bring, who may bring your child and how consent works.

Questions parents ask

When should my child first see a dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry advises a first visit by the first tooth and no later than the first birthday. You do not need to wait for a problem.

Which days and hours will pediatric dentistry be offered?

Hours are announced when bookings open; ask the front desk.

How do I book?

Call the front desk at 786-320-5445, or send a request from our request page.

Can I stay with my child?

Yes.

Can a grandparent or nanny bring my child?

Yes, with your signed authorization for that visit. The parents’ guide explains who Florida law allows to consent when a parent cannot be reached (section 743.0645, Florida Statutes).

My child is nervous. What can we do?

Tell the front desk when you call.

Do you take our insurance?

Ask the front desk about your plan. Bring the card to the visit if you have one.

What if my child knocks out or breaks a tooth?

If your child has trouble breathing, will not wake or is bleeding heavily, call 911. For the tooth, call 786-320-5445 right away; if no one answers, go to the nearest emergency room. The tooth-injury page has the steps.

Is the whole office a pediatric practice?

No. Tetri’s Smile is a general and periodontal practice. Pediatric dentistry is offered on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only.
